Molly Kaufmann

Versatile, dynamic, and facile-of-finger, Molly Kaufmann sparkles in front of an audience. Molly's connection to her listeners, her love of entertaining, and her sense of humor, are right there - front and center.

For over 36 years, Molly has entertained and performed for audiences in half these United States, Canada, Mexico, and even Australia. She helped open Denver's acclaimed Boettcher Hall (part of Denver Center for the Performing Arts) as ragtime soloist on 'jazz night' in 1978. In 1983, Eubie Blake 's 100th birthday was celebrated by many well-known artists on the stage of Broadway's Schubert Theatre. Molly was included in this talented group. She has performed up and down the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers on the riverboats - 'Mississippi Queen' and the 'Delta Queen'. And for the past 28 years, she has been featured pianist at the 'Diamond Belle Saloon' - part of Durango, Colorado's lovely and historic Strater Hotel.

Molly's repertoire is extensive and varied; she can play hits from every decade of the 20th century. Although she is known for her ebullient ragtime style, boogie-woogie. and blues (both instrumental and vocal), included in this mix are also lyric ballads, country and western hits, show tunes, funk, soul, rock, and comedy songs. Her resume also includes work as music director/accompanist for many melodramas and musicals, accompanist for solo instruments, vocalists and choirs, and piano teaching.

She composed her first piece - a lyric and sweet rag called "Windrose" - in 1980. She is also known for her rollicking boogie/blues "Payless Shoes Blues" and her latest rag " La Rosa Mystica". "Windrose" is published and has been recorded.

Seniors all along the Colorado's front range get to hear her perform on a regular basis. Molly also performs in concerts, festivals, bars, private parties -and currently she plays in 3 bands. She is pianist/vocalist in the Jubilee Hot 7 Traditional Jazz band ( formerly the Denver Nighthawks ), pianist and sometimes vocalist in the Mile High Banjo Society, and the Fat City Mardi Gras Jazz Band. Her favorite pastimes, besides all of the above, are playing tennis and spending time with her dog, Jake.
